Delete Trash Content in Your Android Gallery to Free Up Space

This article was originally appeared on my Steemit blog

Sometimes I got lost or forgot something in Android. One glaring example is when I noticed that my phone's internal storage is suddenly losing free space fast.

What I did first is I uninstalled apps that I am not using as frequently as the YouTube app and then I cleared caches and data on my phone by using its built-in system cleaner.

But it did not free up disk space on my phone's internal storage as I expected then suddenly an idea popped up in my head...

I should clear the deleted items on my phone's gallery

After clearing deleted items on my Gallery, the free space in my phone's internal storage dramatically got back to what it has been before (at 50% free space).

Deleting items on Android's Gallery will only put the deleted file into Trash, they will stay on the Gallery's trash for 30 days. After 30 days it will be deleted automatically.

So, if you are deleting a photo or video on your Android's gallery and there is no changes on your phone's storage space you should check Trash the files that you deleted probably be still sitting inside it.

When I Visited Burgos Wind Farm in Burgos, Ilocos Norte, Philippines

Burgos Wind Farm, Burgos, Ilocos Norte (overlooking Bangui beach) - Click to see the original size of the photo.

Have you ever traveled north of the Philippines? If you haven't tried it yet you are missing a lot of beautiful scenery up north, particularly Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte.

And if you are planning to go north I suggest that you start in Ilocos Sur all the way to Ilocos Norte. There you will find old structures all the way from the Spanish colonization of the Philippines to the mystical wind mills, lovely beaches, the Paoay Church, and the ever popular Patapat Viaduct bridge in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte.

It's Always Good Practice to Have a Second Laptop on Standby when Doing a PowerPoint Presentation

This article originally appeared on my Steemit blog

There was a time in my I.T. career that a PowerPoint presentation broke down. The presentation is performing well while we are making a dry run of all the slides.

The laptop that is running the presentation is quite new, it is only months old. The backup laptop on the other hand is three to five years old.

We chose the new laptop because it is more powerful than the old one, which is always a logical choice when someone is doing a very sensitive job function within the company especially a PowerPoint presentation.

Five minutes prior to begin the presentation a damning error suddenly keeps on popping up on the laptop's screen it is saying that PowerPoint is not responding.

I have no choice but to turn on the backup laptop that we have and the rest is history.

By the way, I also have a second projector as a backup.

Client Computers Cannot Print on the Shared Network Printer when Firewall is Automatically Turning Off in Windows 10

This article was originally appeared on my Steemit blog

As I was casually beginning my day last week a co-employee of mine called me because her computer was not able to print documents from client computers.

While we are talking at the telephone, I tried to connect to her computer remotely but I also cannot access her computer.

She said she already restarted her computer twice.

I also cannot access her computer using \\ComputerName. Though her computer can browse the internet and access computers using \\ComputerName.

Thankfully a message appeared in the notification center saying that her computer's firewall has turned off automatically.

When I turned it on again all her computer's clients are now able to print.

Windows 10 seems to turn off incoming connections when the firewall is automatically turned off but outgoing connections are still available.
